Remarkable Development in Agricultural Scientific Research

Agricultural research in Jordan is witnessing a clear transformation, driven by the outstanding efforts of researchers at the National Agricultural Research Center (NARC). The Center has become a trusted partner for international and local organizations seeking collaboration in agricultural innovation and applied scientific research.

This progress was achieved in a short time under the wise leadership of Professor Dr. Ibrahim Mohammad Al-Rawashdeh, Director General of NARC, who has fostered a team spirit to expand research support and integrate modern agricultural technologies and smart farming systems.

During my participation in the workshop implemented by the Ecofuture team titled “Developing an Integrated Strategic Plan for Water, Energy, Food, and Ecosystems in the Jordan Valley,” I witnessed firsthand the dedication of NARC’s staff and researchers in addressing climate challenges that threaten food security through practical, globally aligned research that directly benefits Jordanian farmers.

Today, NARC stands as a national model for introducing advanced agricultural technologies and building strong scientific partnerships with universities and research institutions in Jordan and abroad, promoting knowledge exchange and capacity building across the sector.

Supporting agricultural research is no longer a luxury; it is a cornerstone for sustainable agriculture and stronger national production. Achieving integration among the agricultural committees of Parliament and the concerned ministries—agriculture, water, environment, and energy—is essential to develop realistic recommendations and improve resource management policies.

The achievements of the National Agricultural Research Center inspire pride and affirm that Jordan is steadily advancing toward food security and sustainable resource management. NARC has become the country’s leading agricultural expertise hub, a source of innovation and knowledge, and a key driver of progress toward a more resilient and secure agricultural future.
